I’m very excited to have Robert James Russell, the editor of "Sex Scene: An Anthology", visiting us this week. Robert describes himself as a writer, a dreamer, and a nerd. Yes, on some level this is true but there's traces of bollocks in that statement as well. He's a talented writer, he's cheeky, and very insightful.

I’m not going to dive into his resume because it would render his interview quite pointless. I will, however, tell you about our connection.

Last month, I was sitting in my office dazed from an endless round of recorded promotional interviews when my girlfriend called asking if I’d read Sex Scene and added it to my suggested reading list. “Who the what!?” was my reply. I put the phone on intercom, laid my head on my desk, and let her ramble on about how much she enjoyed this book.

Twenty minutes later, her voice tapered off. That was my cue to go to bed. A few days before we left for Vermont, my girlfriend called and gave me an earful because she didn’t see the book on list. Damnit! She’s crafty! I downloaded the book and read it on the way to Vermont. She was right, it was pretty good. I read it cover to cover.

When we returned home, I looked up this Robert James Russell fellow and read more of his work. It was very interesting to say the least. I reached out to him on Facebook later that night. Yes, I wanted to tell him how much I enjoyed his work but I was too bloody lazy to open Gmail. *shrugs*

I rarely send friend requests. This has more to do with me being exhausted rather than me being stuck up. Hmm, I wonder if he knows that?

Anyway, I imagine him seeing the request and saying, “Who the what?!” For all I know he may have but that night we chatted briefly about the publishing industry and our experiences. I was impressed with him. He wasn’t a toffee-nosed idiot at all! If you will, imagine a young writer who could easily pass for Hugh Grant sipping coffee on the streets of Paris, his brow furrowed as he scribbles his thoughts in his weathered journal. Got the image?

Now, scratch Paris, toss him over to Michigan and there you have him: Robert James Russell. Writer. Dreamer. Nerd.

I’ll be posting his interview this week. You guys are in for a treat!
