Kay Jaybee: The Perfect Submissive

Sometimes I have to pinch myself. There are genuinely days when I can’t believe that I have this amazing life. Somehow I have gone from being an archaeologist, to medieval historian, to an erotica writer, and I’m still not sure how it happened! One minute I was writing about crime rates in thirteenth century Leicestershire, the next I was describing how a dominant woman was getting her rocks off over a man tied to an armchair!
If you ever read my own blog (www.kayjaybee.me.uk), you will notice a certain over-use of words such as ‘wonderful’, ‘amazing’ , ‘fantastic’ and ’lovely’. This is not due to a lack in my vocabulary, but because life is good, and somehow those are the words that say it all.
Just over five years into this erotic writing lark, and I can boast the publication of my ultra naughty confessions style anthology The Collector (Austin & Macauley), two e-books, Quick Kink One and Quick Kink Two (Xcite e-books), a healthy handful of shared anthology publications, mostly with the wonderful (see- there I go!), Xcite books (inc. Sex at Work, Boy Fun and Ultimate Sins), and Cleis Press (inc. Gotta Have It, Best of the Best Women’s Erotica 2 and Sweet Love). I am also amazingly (again!) fortunate to have a clutch of stories on the web site www.oystersandchocolate.com
So here I am, diving into year six of my writing career, and waiting with growing excitement for February 24th the publication of my first full length novel, The Perfect Submissive (Xcite e-books). Until then, I can tempt you to glance upon my latest work with an exclusive sneaky peak of the blurb...
Hidden behind the Fables Hotels respectable facade, five specially adapted rooms wait; ready to cater for the kinky requirements of its guests.
When Mrs Peters, the mistress of the hotels exclusive entertainment facility, meets the new booking clerk, Jess Sanders, she instantly recognises the young woman's potential as a deliciously meek addition to her specialist staff. All it will take is a little education.
Under the tutelage of the dominatrix, Miss Sarah, Jess learns to cope with her unexpected training schedule, the increasingly erotic chill she experiences each time she survives a new level of correction, and a truly sexy exercise routine.
Temporarily distracted from her intimidating rule over Fable’s top floor by an enigmatic artist, Mrs Peters begins to plan how she can secure his obedient assistance, in grooming Jess into the perfect submissive...
Every piece of erotica I have written so far has been penned within an ever growing pile of notebooks with my faithful black biro, whilst sat in the far corner of my favourite coffee shop, in the heart of SW England.
I’ve tried to drag myself into the twenty first century, and write directly into my laptop, but the best I can do is to type up the initial draft (a process which often involves much cursing as I fail to decipher my spider like handwriting). This is the time I do most of my editing, as I transfer my words of imaginative (hopefully) smut (definitely).
I can’t even edit on the computer! So once my words are all neatly typed up, I print off tale after tale, scribble all over them with my red pen, before laboriously typing back in the changes and repeating the process again and again, right up until the point when I totally hate what I’m reading- that’s when I know it’s finally complete!!
Currently I’m working on an anthology of Fem Dom stories, my next novel, and several other stories. When I have five minutes to spare, I go to work and look after my family. I’d like to add I clean the house as well, but that would be a blatant lie!
I’ve been rambling on for long enough, so I’ll leave you now with a reminder that you can find links to all my kinky nuggets on www.kayjaybee.me.uk, and to thank Tracy for kindly inviting me to write a blog for her fantastic (you thought I wasn’t going to use that word didn’t you), web page. xx

Awesome article Kay! I love how you say you know it's finished when you "hate it". I know that feeling all too well. I haven't read a single one of my final books I hate them so! Maybe 10 years from now. I'm so proud of all that you've accomplished you wonderful, amazing, fantastic and lovely smut writer!

Jordan, my last manuscript literally stared at me for months...I couldn't send it! It's the panicy (is that a word?) 'hate it' feeling.

Tracy’s turning us into Kinksters. After reading your blurb my conversion is complete. Off to Amazon.

Hey, getting one's rocks off over a man tied to an armchair is a form of art. Or so I've been told *hides flog*. I doubt any scribbler has looked at a finished piece without a trickle of disgust. If they have, then they've clearly missed the point.
Letting go is tough--there's always something we can tweak or change. Our editors have to shoehorn manuscripts from our grasping, neurotic hands! Congrats! I'm grabbing my copies Feb 24th. :) |

Thanks so much everyone- I love my writing life. I must confess, as I read all your lovely comments I'm smiling all over my face.
I'm so looking forward to The Perfect Submissive coming out- it was so much fun to write, and is very very naughty! I'm working on a book of Fem Dom stories at the moment- so watch this space!! Big thanks to Jordan of Oysters, for her kind words, and all the support I've had from her and Sam over the years. Bigger thanks to Tracy for letting me appear on this site- I love it. Hugs all round Kay Jaybee xxxx |
